Peterbilt Model 520EV
The Peterbilt Model 520EV is a low cab forward, all-electric Class 8 truck purpose-built for zero emissions commercial and residential refuse collection. Designed to take advantage of the frequent stops and starts typical in refuse operations, the Model 520EV uses a regenerative braking system to capture energy and transfer it back to the batteries — helping extend range and reduce brake pad wear. Two high-voltage battery configurations are available, as well as pre-installed frame brackets for seamless refuse body integration.
The Peterbilt 520EV shares many of the exterior features found on the Model 520 and is available in four driving configurations: right-hand stand-up, left-hand or right-hand drive and dual seated drive. Inside the cab, an enhanced gauge cluster displays real-time data specific to electric vehicle operation, such as power output, battery charge level, coolant temperature and more. Powered by lithium iron phosphate batteries that can be charged in as little as 3 hours, the 520EV offers a peak power rating of 670 hp and an estimated range of 150 miles (equivalent to approximately 1,100 trash bins) on a single charge.
