Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs)
Electronic logging devices (ELDs) connect to the engine of a commercial vehicle and automatically record data on the operation of a vehicle, such as driving time, engine data, miles driven and vehicle movement. ELDs ensure the integrity of driver records of duty status (RODS) and compliance with hours-of-service (HOS) rules set by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).
ELD devices must be registered with and certified by the FMCSA in order to be compliant. Rush Truck Centers Telematics offers FMCSA-certified ELD devices from top suppliers, such as the Geotab GO® fleet tracking device and the Omnitracs® Intelligent Vehicle Gateway™ device. We can work with you to find the right ELD to work with your existing hardware and software.

ELD Requirements
The FMCSCA ELD Rule mandates that U.S. motor carriers and commercial drivers maintain RODS and HOS records using an electronic logbook, or ELD. This creates a safer work environment for drivers by ensuring they get the rest they need to operate a commercial vehicle safely and makes it easier and faster to track and share data on driving and off-duty time.
